Abstract

«[…] the COVID-19 pandemic has intensified and expanded globally. The public health implications are enormous, and economies and labour markets are being disrupted on an unprecedented scale. It is the worst global crisis since World War II» (ILO, April 2020). No one knows for sure when we will be able to put an end to it and resume our lives, our jobs... The State, in order to prevent the expansion and spread of contagion among citizens and to guarantee adequate health protection, has been forced to adopt a series of restrictive measures and controls on both people and productive activity. Some sectors have been forced to cease, while others have been considered essential and have remained in place to ensure the supply and provision of basic needs for the population and the health system. Among these exceptional decisions there are many referring to labor and Social Security matters, whose objective is that the effects of this crisis be cushioned to cause the least possible damage. In this work, we will address said labor measures adopted.
