Today we live in a world in which we are subject to continuous demands that come from different fields. The tools provided by the new information and communication technologies facilitate information in a much faster way, but at the same time they require an immediate response and the accomplishment of many tasks. This demand is especially evident in the work sphere where the worker faces situations that can lead to work stress. In this new context, it will be essential that organizations create healthier work environments and invest in techniques for their employees to control those demands. Mindfulness, as a technique that pays attention to the experience of the present moment, will enable this healthier work environment.
The first part of this study focuses on determining what is mindfulness, the techniques and therapies based on mindfulness, routines that can be incorporated into everyday life and finally its benefits. Next, and taking into account that mindfulness is a technique to promote health and well-being at work, we will analyze the measures adopted for the promotion of health at work, distinguishing between health promotion in individual work and collective promotion and an analysis of what work stress is and how mindfulness can be used as a technique for prevention and facing. Finally, taking into account all of the above, a proposal for concrete measures is established to the implementation of a mindfulness program in the workplace.
