Abstract

Our study starts from a very specific origin based on a transcendental behavior of organizations with their employees, to confirm that socially responsible companies in the management of people are capable of creating sustainable competitive advantages, keeping a more ethical behaviour and good governance, improving its corporate reputation, loyalty to customers and achieving social recognition.

The empirical study has been carried out in the most responsible companies in Spain, «excellent» according to the MERCO 2014 ranking. The results show that good personnel management has a positive influence on the internal and external reputation of the company, and its effect increases if a good corporate governance acts as a moderating variable.
