Do the welfare state models affect work-life balance for female worker with children? The moderator role of gender as cultural value in Europe

In the recent years is commonly usual the presence of women in the labour market and it brings to light the pressing need of making quotidian those work-life balance practices that really would make easier a deep integration attending to their life cycle. In this sense, it is original and relevant to make a global analysis of the different variables (such as Welfare State models, national culture in the dimension of gender egalitarianism and work-life balance policies) which from the moment has been observed in an isolated way. In order to achieve this objective, the question setting out is if the different insitutional desings affect in a determining way relating to the practices and policies of Human Resources (HHRR) that are designed and implemented in organizations, Moreover, for this affectation, our aim is to notice the value of the cultural variable masculinity/femininity through the different European countries. So, an empirical analysis is developed with a sample of 5.775 European working women. The results confirm the impact of the different institutional desings on the level of development of work-life balance practices for the European organizations analyzed. However, the general idea that in the Socialdemocratic countries the work-life balance has more importance than in the Postcomunist countries doesn´t work for the expected effect that the Welfare State should present for this kind of countries.
