The main objective of this paper focuses on analyzing the implications of digital transformation for the leadership and management of a mixed workforce –humans and machines– and identifying the main challenges it faces today and shortly. After a brief contextualization of organizations in the digital transformation process, an analysis of the main characteristics of modalities of autonomous systems and human-AI systems or teams is outlined. Second, it identifies the axes that define the management of a mixed workforce and the adaptations and innovations that will be necessary to do so effectively. Thirdly, the implications of the technologies used in human resource management processes are analyzed, assessing their scope and both technical and ethical implications. Finally, the main conclusions and a series of recommendations are offered to meet the challenge of digital transformation for the new workforce management and the technologies used in people management. Throughout the analysis carried out in this paper, the main questions that define the scenarios that digital transformation poses to human resources management will be formulated.
