Abstract

This study presents a systematic review on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on workplace well-being, with particular attention to employees’ levels of stress and job satisfaction. Given the growing presence of intelligent systems in work environments and the limited empirical evidence on their psychosocial effects, 28 quantitative and mixed-method studies published between 2015 and 2025 were analyzed following PRISMA guidelines and using five academic databases. The findings indicate that AI can enhance job satisfaction when used as a supportive tool and for the automation of repetitive tasks, fostering motivation, work-life balance, and psychological empowerment. However, inadequate implementation may lead to stress, depersonalization, and loss of autonomy. Overall, the impact of AI on well-being is not uniform, but it depends on organizational context, job role, and human resource management policies. Finally, practical implications for human resource management and future research directions using longitudinal and ethical approaches are discussed.
