Abstract

Judgment of the High Court of Justice of Castile and León 686/2026, the 13th of April, recognises the tragic suicide of a public employee as a work-related accident under Article 156 of the General Social Security Act. The Chamber applies the theory of relevant causality, finding that the working environment was the determining factor in the employee’s tragic decision. This commentary highlights the importance of preventing psychosocial risks and protecting mental health in the workplace.
