Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Revista de Trabajo y Seguridad Social. CEF is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in scientific publishing, ensuring the integrity, transparency, and quality of the works it disseminates. To ensure that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools is carried out responsibly and in accordance with the principles of transparency and data confidentiality, the journal establishes the following guidelines:
1. Responsibility of the Authors
Declaration of Use
Authors must explicitly declare the use of any AI tools in the research and writing process (at any stage), ensuring that such use does not compromise the originality, integrity, or authorship of the work.
This declaration should appear under the heading “Declaration of Artificial Intelligence Use” at the end of the paper, if it is submitted to the "Studies" or "HR Studies" sections, or as a footnote if it is intended for other sections.
In the declaration:
- The specific AI model used, including its version and the date of use, must be clearly stated.
- The following must be described:
- the function(s) for which the AI was used [the role of AI in the research and writing of the article (e.g., assisting, transforming information, synthesizing or systematizing arguments, analyzing, producing or systematizing results, making recommendations for conclusions, generating images, tables, figures, creating and processing Excel data following instructions, etc.) and the prompts used to interact with the AI model],
- what products and formats generated through that interaction have been integrated into the different sections of the article, and
- the criteria used both to include those results and to minimize bias while respecting intellectual property and third-party authorship rights.
In the case of research studies, the AI tool used must also be cited in the "References" section in accordance with APA guidelines.
Limitations on Use
- Prohibition of unsupervised generative AI use: The automated generation of entire articles or fabrication of non-existent bibliographic references using AI tools is strictly prohibited.
- Content responsibility: Authors are responsible for the content of their work and must ensure the accuracy and reliability of the information presented.
2. Responsibility of the Editorial Team
The journal’s editorial team will:
- Use AI detection systems (such as iThenticate) in manuscripts to ensure ethical and transparent use.
- Apply corrective measures in the event of fraudulent AI use, which may include article retraction and banning the author from future publications.
- Periodically update editorial policies concerning AI and its implications in scientific publishing.
- Promote best practices in academic publishing and ensure compliance with international research ethics standards.
3. Responsibility of Reviewers
Those responsible for reviewing the studies will:
- Immediately inform the Editorial Board if undeclared use of AI is detected in the manuscript.
- Notify the Editorial Board of potential AI-generated text using detection and analysis tools.
- Specifically evaluate declared AI use in the study.
- Refrain from using AI for reviewing without proper supervision and without informing the Editorial Board.
4. Consequences of Non-Compliance
Failure to comply with this policy may result in:
- Additional manuscript review due to suspected improper AI use.
- Rejection of the work.
- Retraction of the publication if fraudulent AI use is discovered after publication.
- Temporary or permanent ban from publishing in the journal.
- Notification of the authors’ academic institutions in cases of fraud or malpractice.
5. AI Policy Updates
The guidelines set out in this policy will be periodically reviewed and updated to reflect regulatory changes and advances in AI, ensuring the integrity of academic publishing.
