Abstract

The entry into force of the European Regulation on data protection and its direct application in our will involve a change of culture in this area and entails a greater responsibility for those responsible for data protection. In the field of collective labor relations, numerous problems may arise with respect to the protection of personal data of workers. Such an analysis is centres around two key areas. On the one hand, the one linked to the information rights that the labor regulations recognizes the representatives to the extent that access to personal data of the workers may imply. On the other hand, that related to the exercise of union activity, which could involve the dissemination of information likely to affect the sensitive information of the participants. Special attention should also be paid to the sensitive data of union membership and the role that collective bargaining is called upon to play in the protection of personal data in the field of labor relations.
