This study are two objectives: to analyze the mediating role of work well-being, understood as the coexistence of burnout and engagement, in the relationship between job satisfaction and life satisfaction and to observe the moderating effect of emotional intelligence on the relationship job satisfaction-well-being at work. Data come from a representative sample of workers (N = 585) at the University of Extremadura (Spain), both teaching and research academic staff (TRAS) such as service and administrative staff (SAS). Simple mediation and moderate mediation analysis were performed. The results show that the relationship between job satisfaction and satisfaction with life is mediated by well-being at work and that there is also a direct relationship between both constructs in the two groups analyzed, with the exception of engagement in the PDI, which acts as a mediator total in the relationship between job satisfaction and life satisfaction. Furthermore, it is observed that emotional intelligence attenuates the negative relationship between job satisfaction and burnout in SAS. These findings and their practical implications are discussed and future lines of research are proposed.
