The future of the Spanish public pension scheme is a current matter which is being subject to debate in various economic forums and which concerns workers in our country, namely those next to retirement.
In times of economic crisis, such as the one we are going through nowadays, the Social Security Reserve Fund is growing in importance given that it was created in order to secure the financial balance of the public pension scheme.
Where do the resources of the Reserve Fund come from? How are such resources invested? What are the Reserve Fund’s yields? What cover would the Fund grant to the actuarial present value of new retirement pensions? These are the questions that this article will try to tackle.
