Seventh report INNOVACEF: the action of the Junta para Ampliación de Estudios e Investigaciones Científicas in the first third of the twentieth century Spanish

Abstract

The purpose of the seventh report INNOVACEF is to compare the confidence’s level of young researchers who are employed in Spain, as the group which is more likely that they will go abroad, with Spanish scientists who are currently working abroad, in order to present the main differences in the professional status of these two groups and their size, so that these distances may be reduced or eliminated as soon as possible.

The contributions made by various experts regarding the actions of the Junta para Ampliación de Estudios e Investigaciones Científicas as Spanish initiative that, about a century ago, got a remarkable success in managing the international mobility of Spanish researchers are presented. Similarly, to contrast the confidence’s level of young researchers who are employed in Spain, the opinion of the president of the Federación de Jóvenes Investigadores is exposed, in relation to the situation of young researchers, science in Spain in general and the possibility of applying now the action of the Junta para Ampliación de Estudios e Investigaciones Científicas.

For the first of two objectives, a questionnaire was made on a sample of the two groups. Regarding the second purpose, representatives and experts have been interviewed. The results obtained establish that large differences continue, for whose reduction or elimination Junta para Ampliación de Estudios e Investigaciones Científicas can be a suitable model to convert Spain into a focus of attraction and retention of scientific knowledge.
