This paper analyzes the recruitment of researchers by public universities in accordance with the Spanish Law of Science 2011. In particular, the pre-doctoral contract: special temporary contract for training in research and, ultimately, to the completion of a doctoral thesis and the PhD; the contract of access to the Spanish science, technology and innovation system: training contract intended for selection of qualified postdoctoral researchers; and distinguished researcher contract: special contract for the participation of highly qualified researchers in strategic projects. Also the general employment contracts for research (temporary and permanent) and its particularities in relation to the general regulation of employment contracts.
