The «rabid» Spanish social and labour today for the start of 2014: between the certainty of upcoming social protection and hope for part-time employability

Abstract

The new artificially induced fiscal crisis of the welfare State leads to continuing reforms, both regulatory institutions of the labour market and pensions. These changes, even desperate, do not stop. The reality is that such changes often produce contrary to recognized by those who introduce effects. Nevertheless, legislators and policies are determined to continue this erratic way. Law 23/2013, leading to a significant reduction in the cost of the pension system through the introduction of the «sustainability factor» and Real Decree-Law 16/2013, which focuses on increased job creation through increasing the partial nature of the employment, clearly illustrate this fever oriented reformer and one wrong way. The same evidence Law 22/2013 General State Budget Act of 2014, whose rationale remains ensuring the financial solvency of the State through the depression of the rights of citizens. The consistency of regulation is sacrificed in exchange for vague hopes of ultimate financial viability and future employability.
