Abstract

Nowadays, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is becoming an emerging paradigm for recent organizational research and also is very influential on management. Many organizations have decided to adopt voluntarily a set of guidelines which fit to specific patterns of corporate behavior according to which such organizations show a more opened vision to the interests of a plurality of stakeholders who interact with the firm, including human resources as internal stakeholders. In this study we have considered a number of internal CSR corporate initiatives among those in which it can be easily seen that human resources are directly benefiting from their effects. Firstly we analyze empirically the level of implementation of CSR practices, so we used a sample comprising 551 major listed companies located in 15 European countries and we observe the evolution over the period 2007-2011, both inclusive. Our study also tests the hypothesis that the level of implantation of CSR initiatives is related to the improvement of the firm's financial success measured by ratios.
