The global economic and financial crisis is causing numerous collective redundancies, some of them of huge dimensions. The indisputable and, apparently, final implementation of a globalised market economy, the relevant position of the «businessmen-groups of companies» and the generalization of the paid and dependant work contribute to explain the urgency to terminate in such way the employment agreements and their derived labour relationships. For that reason, the own collective redundancy institution should be reconsidered. In any case, it is urgent to interpret the existing regulations pursuant to such phenomena and this work is dedicated to such purpose.
