Abstract

The objective of the present study is to analyse the new dimension of phychosocial risks and how in the future mental illnesses within the working population will acquire greater impact. An important rise in certain illnesses, stress, depression, violence, harassment and intimidation has been observed.

The actions of the Labour Inspection Unit and more specifically their role in the guarding and control in the prevention of work-related risks and in particular those of a phychosocial nature will be hereafter examined. I would like to point out that the CT 69/2009, which replaced the former CT 34/2008, is of enormous importance as it recognizes the existence of phycosocial risks and their current new dimension. I have made special reference to mobbing, which has become a subject of great interest in latter years, and has recently be included within labour relations materials. Although these acts are by no way new, there is a greater social awareness of them and a will to prevent every kind of violence in every environment including the work place.
