Protection of employees reporting on environmental risks arising from industrial activities through the generic right to freedom of expression: a solution, but not the appropriate one

The ruling of the European Court of Human Rights of 8 October 2024 (Aghajanyan vs. Armenia) grants protection, through the right to freedom of expression in Article 10 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, to a whistleblower worker from his company for the generation of environmental risks. This comment focuses on the weaknesses of this channel of protection.
