Abstract

The appearance of new technologies is blurring the separation between work and personal life, and has created a new phenomenon: technostress, and another one has increased: workaholism. This paper assesses neuroticism as a predictor of both phenomena and the relationship between different variables. The results indicate a predictive capacity of neuroticism on technostress, but not on workaholism. However, if the analysis focuses on the facets of negative emotionality, the predictive capacity of neuroticism is significant for workaholism. On the other hand, the correlation analysis shows a weak correlation between neuroticism and workaholism, and a moderate correlation between neuroticism and technostress. The correlation between workaholism and technostress is also moderate, although it is the highest of them.
